Gun laws ultimately fail
Any rational government wants what’s best for its people. Crime affects all countries and governments wants to keep their people safe and illegal guns off the street. Often, these countries would employ gun control laws in order to help curb the spread of illegal guns. But, that is where the cake just falls flat. Because gun control laws make it difficult for law-abiding citizens to purchase guns to protect themselves.
And the criminals really don’t mind gun control laws. In fact, they may even support it considering that gun laws would make it difficult for any of their potential victims to acquire a firearm for self-protection. Statistics show time and time again that gun laws drive crime statistics through the roof.
For instance, when Australia imposed gun laws on its citizens in 1997 homicides and assaults went up by almost 10 percent. Armed robberies rose by an astounding 44 percent. The same statistics apply in most other western countries like Canada and Germany.
Gun laws take protection away from the free citizen and arm the criminal. Criminals aren’t worried about gun laws. They undoubtedly own several guns already and won’t have any trouble obtaining more. And, ironically enough, the guns they currently use in their crimes probably came from a victim’s gun safe.
The only way to stop the criminal is with better policing, tougher laws and no laws preventing citizens from buying or owning guns. Imagine a scenario where you and your loved ones are in danger and you have nothing to protect them with. How you going to stop the burglars, with bad language?
Now, it would be a completely
different scenario if you were to pull out a .38
Special. That’s a show-stopper right there and, besides
good policing and tough laws, one of the best deterrents
for crime in any country.
