Note the careful wording of the title. It’s not run the coward down which is, unfortunately, illegal but facing the coward down, especially with a loaded .45 in your hand. The coward, in this case, would be a rapist.
Cowards that, due to weakness or impotence, can’t establish a normal bond with a woman so they take what they want by force. Of course, our country seems to be very accommodating toward criminals seeming that we must be one of very few countries that grant criminals rights.
And there’s no shortage of fire-power. In fact, the Gauteng police have recently found a cache of weapons supposedly destroyed by the SAPS but somehow found their way into the hands of Western Cape gangsters. The police officer who sold the guns to the gangsters was arrested and in possession of R100 000 cash. Since it would appear that even our own police force can’t be trusted, it’s in the hands of ordinary citizens to take a stand.
South Africa is no longer a country ruled by its citizenry, but by the gun. And the guns always end up in the wrong hands, in the hands of the criminals. Often times, police are targeted by criminals simply for their guns and corrupt police officers will sell state-owned guns to criminals to make a quick buck.
Guns from other countries also find their way into ours. Mozambique suffered a devastating civil war and, although weapons caches are destroyed regularly, weapons still find their way across our borders and in the wrong hands.
On top of everything, our inept government imposes gun laws on the people, attempting to take away from them the only thing they have left to protect themselves. In a truly democratic society, the right to bear arms is the most fundamental right, not to sow wanton misery but to protect from it.
A happy citizen is a citizen that can protect himself or his family. If the average South African is facing a war from two sides, the criminal and the bureaucracy, it is up to him or her to take the necessary measures.
Criminals will go to great lengths to get what they
want. Don’t you think it’s about time that the tables
are turned?
